GOC and GK RWC Double Store Champ Weekend and Training

Image
Hey guys, I won Game Kastle Redwood City's Store Championship. I played Slimes, so what did you expect? There's nothing really else to say, so thanks for reading! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyway, all joking aside, hi friends! I thought I was pretty much done for the season after my last blog post. My mental state was/is super fragile, things weren't going my way in-game, and lots of bad things kept happening in life, so I was prepared to just take a break. I spent the weekend of the SoCal Regional  relaxing at home with my wife and watching the Omnidex intently for the results. By the end of it, Steven, Christian, Jeremy, and Eustace took home invites. Special shoutout to Eustace for getting his first top/prize card. Eustace has been 2nd place and bubbling so many times that I thought he needed an exorcism to get rid of his curse. He's too good of a player not to make it...

The Competitive Mindset, A Tristan Case Study, and Uncertainty

Hi friends!  This is probably going to be a longer post as it could have been three different entries, but I've had many thoughts that I wanted to get out there. This is going to be separated into three different parts: one motivational, one informational, and one about my personal journey. I realize some people don't need anything to already be a competitive player, I realize that many players are at a level where there is not much to learn from a player at my level, and I realize that some people aren't as interested in what I've been up to since last time. I appreciate you being here reading no matter what the reason. If you want to skip to certain parts, use CTRL + F on these: *Competitive **Informational ^Player Improvement^ !Back to Tristan! ***Personal *Competitive The Competitive Mindset Many of us are either TCG or video game veterans, so the idea of being competitive isn't new to us. However, there are many who have just entered the TCG space with GA as th...

MRC Season, Ascent Chicago, Slump

Image
Hi friends. A few people have been asking me why I haven't been updating my blog lately and there's a few factors attributing to that. The main reason is that I don't really feel inspired to write about anything. The second reason is that our playerbase in NorCal has grown dramatically skill-wise and that I don't think there is much I can teach you guys anymore. The last reason is that I've been in quite a slump this season and I don't really feel comfortable writing about any deck that I haven't mastered or put up results with.  This season has been pretty rough for me. I wanted to play Wind Crux at the start, but slowly learned it was pretty poorly positioned. I started to jam Wind Umbra Tristan after that and had some good results. I swept through each locals and even won Tofu's win-a-box tournament and almost had a "perfect week" (undefeated in each of the 5 locals I attend in a week), but sadly I ran into a few counter decks and bad luck a...
